HELP YOURSELF AND YOUR NEIGHBORS BY
SUPPORTING THE ORLEANS CITIZENS FORUM!
The Orleans Citizens Forum (OCF) is an unbiased, non-partisan organization, comprised entirely of volunteers, that was started in 1997 as a political watchdog group. It has since matured into today’s public-interest organization examining critical topics objectively.
OCF focuses on issues that are of a current interest and importance to Orleans citizens as well as to all Lower Cape residents and visitors.
Not afraid to tackle controversial issues, our Board of Directors agrees on a topic of current interest. We then work together to find panelists who can provide the depth and balance that is critical to our understanding of the issue at hand.
Here our president explains who we are and what we do in a video message:
Why Support Us?
The mission of the Orleans Citizens Forum is to improve quality of life on the Lower Cape by promoting understanding of issues affecting your life and the lives of others.
We sponsor 6 to 8 Forums each year and all are announced well in advance, both on our website and via timely email messages.
We video record most of our Forums and our website details when they are available and how to access them, as well as providing them on the website.
We have a History of Presenting Vital Information
Over the past few years, we have help popular Forums on Frauds and Scams, Lyme Disease, Emergency Preparedness, Developing Your Life Portfolio and Orleans Town Meeting Articles, among others.
When appropriate, we host an Orleans Candidates Night where voters can get to know Selectman candidates and their positions on important issues. Last year, we held a highly successful Quality of Life Expo where citizens of the Lower Cape could meet with representatives of over 50 educational, cultural and human-services organizations to learn about their programs and how, as citizens, they could become involved in the causes/activities they value.
Available Reference Materials and Resources
Our website and email eBlasts provide the public with access to a host of resources from past Forums — resources that can serve as valuable documentation and on-going reference materials.
