The Orleans Citizens Forum hosted a forum on the renovation and modernization of Nauset High School. The project is estimated to cost $132 million. The towns of Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet will each be asked to proportionately share the project’s cost not reimbursed by the State. Orleans’s share is estimated at just under $19 million. This is the largest educational project the region has ever undertaken and the second largest capital project in the history of Orleans. Orleans Citizens Forum is sponsoring a forum on January 16 to help us understand the objectives and challenges of this big undertaking.
The panel included Tom Conrad, Superintendent of Schools, Chris Ellsasser, Principal, Nauset Regional High School and Lynn Bruneau, Chairperson, Town of Orleans Finance Committee. Shared with the audience were the existing conditions of the school, proposed changes, project history and potential benefits. Many questions were answered by the panel.
