Orleans Citizens Forum is sharing this message from the Town of Orleans:
Charter Review Survey
Like other towns in the Commonwealth, Orleans has a Town Charter. The Charter sets out the form and structure of our local Government. First passed in 1987 it is reviewed every seven years. The Select Board recently appointed a Charter Review Committee to recommend revisions to the current charter. We are reaching out to citizens through this survey to take the pulse on perceptions of the quality of current Town Government. We also hold public meetings and welcome your feedback in those meetings and at our website as well.
The explicit purpose of the Orleans Town Charter is to: “secure citizen control of local affairs; to establish and maintain efficient and financially sound government; and to ensure that elected and appointed officers are accountable to the electorate.” The Charter can be read on line at the town website: https://ecode360.com/14345881
How well do you think the Town is doing?
Please let us know by completing this brief survey.
